 Overview

AMS Binder is an integrated merge, split, bind, and bookmark application that helps create composite PDF files, summary reports, project work-products, and content archivals.

In addition to streamlining PDF composition, publishing, and archival functions, AMS Binder can take external bookmarks and apply them to the relevant PDF files.

Bookmarks can first be extracted and applied to PDF files and then these PDF files can be merged into a composite PDF work-product.

AMS can physically merge PDFs into a single composite or can logically bind PDFs together with an integrated navigation facility.

 File Coverage

AMS Binder can help merge scattered information, consolidate multiple project iterations, and create work-product archivals.

AMS also supports selective merge operations based on either page ranges or bookmark page destinations.

For large files or for cases where physical merge is not desirable, AMS allows one to logically merge PDF files via an integrated navigation facility.

Files without bookmarks can easily be bookmarked using Binder’s import bookmarks feature.

AMS Offerings
AMS Standard provides a robust set of merge, split, bind, and bookmark functions. In addition, AMS Standard also allows one to audit the output prior to finalizing the desired results and set file access and viewing properties for the output PDF files.
In addition to comprehensive merge, split, bind, and bookmark functions, AMS Professional can also create a PDF binder by logically merging input PDF files. It can also create a top-level summary that can act as a navigational facility within a large PDF file or across multiple PDF files. AMS Professional also allows one to publish the output bookmarks to the web.

 AMS Functions
AMS integrates split, merge, bind and bookmark functions into a powerful and easy to use platform. Key AMS features include:

 PDF Split
Use AMS Split function to split multiple PDF files together with their bookmarks into individual files. Split PDF files by page range, bookmark destination etc. Specify resultant file naming conventions and process multiple files in one go. Retain bookmark and link relationships for split files.

Physical Merge

Use AMS Physical Merge function to merge two or more PDF files together with their bookmarks into a single PDF file. A physically merged PDF file may be well suited for creating archives from scattered PDF files. Physical merge function may also be helpful in creating reports that contain all or select information from different sources.

 Logical Merge

AMS can create a logical binder, where only bookmarks from required files are assembled at one place to allow for integrated navigation across all the constituent files. In a logical bind operation, the source PDF files are not physically merged but are rather integrated through a common ‘bookmarks driven’ navigation facility.

 Binder Index Summary

One can create a top-level summary page that can act as a navigational facility, using bookmarks and links, to access desired information within a large PDF file or across multiple PDF files.

Binder Index Page composition is supported by a number of robust bookmark, link, and layout features that help customize the content and 'look and feel' of the resultant top-level summary page.

 Import and Apply Bookmarks

Use import bookmarks feature of AMS Binder to add bookmarks to your PDF files. Bookmarked PDFs can then be merged into a single PDF file or a logical binder. Input PDF files may be scanned files or repository exports that may need to have external data including Excel applied as bookmarks to make them truly accessible.

AMS Binder has a robust bookmark import function that can take a master bookmarks list or Excel data and apply it to multiple input files in an automated fashion. Using Tiff images or list files, one can also filter a master bookmarks list and only apply relevant bookmarks to the input PDF files.

 Bookmarks Preview and Audit
Use ‘Bookmarks Preview’ to see how the merged bookmarks tree will appear in the final output. Bookmark Preview is supported by a number of advanced bookmark Audit functions that help change the bookmark tree before it is finally applied to the binder output.

 Bookmark Tree Edit Functions

AMS allows one to define file name aliases and select bookmark levels to help generate a meaningful merge output bookmark tree.

Aliases provide the means to set alternates for the filenames in the bookmark tree. Assign aliases to filenames in order to make them more descriptive and understandable. The aliases will then appear instead of the filenames in the final bookmark tree.

Select the desired bookmark tree hierarchy level to be included in the binder output bookmark tree. You can select all the bookmarks or select bookmarks only up to a certain desired hierarchy level and customize the output bookmark tree accordingly.

 Generate HTML for Bookmarks

Using this option, one can incorporate the PDF bookmarks as HTML links on a Web page and publish this page on a target web site. Simply copy and paste the generated HTML code in the target Web page and publish both the HTML page and relevant output PDF file(s) on the Web server. This will allow remote access to the desired PDF information by a simple click on the desired HTML links.

Extensive Security, Display and Processing Controls

AMS allows one to specify document open properties including its display, layout, magnification, and panes to display. One can also set PDF file security options including password protection and document access restrictions for one or more files.

Merge or split multiple files contained in a folder or listed in a control file. Also specify the order in which PDF files are processed during merge or bind operation.
